Oithere watches your screen while you work, so you should know exactly what it does with what it sees. This policy covers the Oithere Mac app and this website.

Our commitments

• We do not sell your data.
• We do not show ads or track you across websites.
• We do not store your screenshots. They never leave your Mac.
• We do not use your data to train AI models.
• Oithere looks at your screen only while a focus session is running.
• Your session history is kept on your Mac only. We cannot see it.
• Our AI service providers receive short pieces of text, never images.
• We disclose data to authorities only when the law requires it.

What Oithere reads during a session

While a focus session is running, Oithere reads the window in front of you: the app, the page address in a browser, the window title, and the text visible in the window. It takes screenshots to read that text. The screenshots are read on your Mac and then discarded.

Before you start a session, while it is paused, during a break, and after it ends, Oithere reads nothing.

What stays on your Mac

• Screenshots. They are never uploaded and never written to disk.
• Session history. For each finished session, Oithere keeps the intention you typed, the times, the recap numbers, and for each block of time the app, the site and up to five window titles. This is stored in a file on your Mac. You can delete one session in the History window or all of them in Settings. We have no copy.
• Your choices during a session, such as marking a screen as relevant. They are forgotten when the session ends.

What leaves your Mac during a session

Some of the coach’s work is done by AI service providers, because it needs models that do not run on your Mac. For the language model, Oithere sends them your intention and a limited amount of text about the window in front of you. If Speak nudges is on, the words of the nudge are sent to be turned into speech. Turn the setting off and the nudge appears silently.

These providers work on our behalf and only to return an answer to the app. Your email address is not included in these requests.

Your account

To sign you in and check your trial or subscription, we keep your email address, a device identifier for each Mac you sign in on, and your subscription details. Your account holds nothing about your screen.

The app has no analytics and no telemetry.

Payments

Subscriptions are sold through Link, a Stripe company, our reseller and the Merchant of Record. Stripe and Link collect your payment details, billing address and tax information under Stripe’s privacy policy. We never see your card number. Stripe tells us your email address and the state of your subscription so that the app can unlock.

This website

Our hosting provider gives us aggregate visitor statistics, such as page views and countries. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. The checkout may set cookies that it needs to take a payment and prevent fraud.

Email

We email you sign-in codes and messages about your account or subscription, such as a change to prices or terms. We may also send occasional news about Oithere to the address on your account. Every such email has an unsubscribe link, and you can opt out at any time by writing to us.

Who receives your data

We use service providers for the following. Each receives only what it needs for its part.

• Payments: Stripe and Link, which handle payment, tax, invoices and the customer portal.
• Hosting: this website, our licence service and the database behind your account.
• Email delivery: sign-in codes and account messages.
• AI processing: the language model and the voice behind the coach.
• Embedded video: the videos in the app’s first-run tour.

Some of these providers are outside the European Economic Area. Where they are, the transfer relies on an adequacy decision of the European Commission or on its standard contractual clauses.

We share data with no one else, unless the law requires it.

Why we are allowed to use your data

Under the GDPR we rely on:

• our contract with you, to run your account, check your subscription, and provide the coach, including the AI processing described above;
• our legitimate interests, to keep the service secure, prevent abuse, understand website traffic, and tell existing customers about Oithere;
• legal obligations, to keep the accounting and tax records the law requires.

How long we keep it

• Account data is kept while you have an account. When you ask us to delete it, we do so within 30 days.
• Records the law requires us to keep, such as accounting records, are kept for as long as the law says.
• Session history stays on your Mac until you delete it.
• Stripe keeps its own records of your purchases under its own policy.

Your rights

You can ask us to:

• give you a copy of your data;
• correct it;
• delete it;
• restrict or stop how we use it;
• send it to you in a form you can take elsewhere.

Write to hello@oithere.com from the address on your account. We answer within one month.

You also have the right to complain to a data protection authority. Ours is the State Data Protection Inspectorate of Lithuania (vdai.lrv.lt). You can also go to the authority in the country where you live.

Children

Oithere is not meant for children, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will email you before the change takes effect and update the date at the top of this page.
